Trainee Cost Engineer - Circa £20k (negotiable DOE) - Needham Market - 25 Days Holiday (+ 8 days Statuatory) - 3% Company Contribution to Pension

Role Outline

This is an administrative costing / estimating role within my clients commercial team. The role will report to the head of contracts and commerce. As a trainee cost engineer you would be helping my client to calculate how much a potential job will cost them and therefore how much they should charge for the work.


* Producing quotations for potential jobs to be carried out.
* Following company procedures to ensure tasks are carried out in line with processes.
* Receiving requests for quotations, establishing the location of the proposed works, reading the request and analysing what needs to be added to the quote.
* Following rates for costings.
* General support to the Commercial department (Head of Contracts and Commerce / Project Engineer)
* Liaise with SHEQ and project management to formulate pre-qualification questioneers for future tenders.
* Creates new tender folders on the online system
* Performs calculation work for applications/tenders and sets risks associated with each project.
* Quantifies volumes, sets the price and determines the appropriate treatment standards (man hours per unit of work).
* Selects, collects, monitors and compares received price information about materials that can be introduced as basic information in the tender budget.
* Ensure that commercial, insurance, contractual and financial obligations correspond to the guidelines.

Essential Requirements

* Good Administrative skills
* Computer literate and experienced using microsoft office.
* Attention to detail

Commutable from Ipswich, Colchester, Bury St Edmunds etc.
