Job Purpose:
To provide support to the Head of Specialist Underwriting for Keystone brand; managing files accurately within prescribed timescales, focusing on achieving excellent customer service at all times. Responsibilities will include managing key relationships, underwriting case files for submission and maintaining internal systems with up to date lender data/criteria.
Key Responsibilities:
Summary of Main duties
• Assess mortgage lending applications
• Manage files
• Taking ownership of case files
• Participate in projects to improve loan sanctioning and credit management processes and policies
• Liaise with brokers and customers to ensure applications are completed efficiently, supporting teams in developing internal and broker relationships People Related Tasks
• Build and maintain effective relationships with all new and existing clients • Ensure timely, accurate and appropriate responses to enquiries
• Liaise with Mortgage Consultants, appraising them of the progress of specific mortgage cases and seeking to resolve any queries arising
• Liaise with Senior Management, escalating any specific problems for discussion and resolution Daily Operations
• Works within prescribed procedures and practices
• Inputs, updates and maintains data so that systems and files accurately reflect current position at all times
• Produces written correspondence and documents using standard formats • Assists colleagues in dealing with more complex cases
Key Skills/Experience
• Coping with changing circumstances and acting in a manner that facilitates the change process • Redirects efforts proactively applying an understanding of the reasons to support colleagues
• Recognises the need for change and makes recommendations accordingly
• Pre-empts problems by anticipating the need to adapt approach; initiates changes • Analytically minded with high attention to detail
• A minimum of 3 years manual underwriting experience within the Buy to Let, Residential or Commercial mortgage market
• Experience of dealing with brokers and third parties.
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines • Strong planning and problem solving skills
