We are looking for a data expert and leader to join us as our Digital Service Practice Lead for Data. You will have business acumen, technical and strategic expertise and be able to engage with a cross section of our people. You'll define best practice and ultimately deliver a robust business plan and a world class service within our data practice which will have a far reaching and pivotal impact on services used by millions of UK citizens, including some of the most vulnerable in society. About you and the role The key elements we value for this role are Leadership, Service Development, Customer Insight, Capability Development, Growing Capacity and the ability to lead recruitment in this data practice helping to develop and identify talent. As the Data Digital Service Practice Lead (DSPL), you will primarily be responsible for service development and innovation, ensuring that your practice quickly matures and grows in insight, capability and service quality. Working in partnership with expert in DWP, you will share and provide insight, innovation and improvement ideas, building a close, collaborative network of digital professionals. What are we looking for? Proven track record of senior leadership in a digital and data environment with an understanding of end to end data delivery techniques in Data Modelling, Big Data, Data Solutions, MI/BI Solutions and ETL techniques. Experience of delivering robust, timely and accurate data products and services. A track record of coaching and people development, enabling others to develop and grow. An ability to communicate insight and technical excellence. Understand Business Strategy and is able to direct a team of Data Engineers with various specialisms, with an ability to build credible relationships at senior levels within a complex organisation. Be able to work with other DSPLs and Heads of Practice to build cross-community ways of working to support delivery priorities and effectively deliver common goals. Desirable Skills/Experience Experience in an Agile delivery environment Ideally previous experience within government services. Developing data solutions on Oracle, Clandera, or HortonWorks Platforms. Knowledge of coding skills, including Spark SQL, Hive SQL, Spark Streaming, Scala, Kafta, HDFS, OOzie, GitHub, Unix. Working in a wide range of Project Environments specifically Agile with an understanding of the different approaches, for example, Scrum, XP, DSDM Contributing to or influencing digital organisational transformation and establishing/leading in a Community of Practices or Capability model.
