Lecturer in Plumbing and Gas
The Technology Faculty is entering an exciting time of expansion with growing numbers, new curriculum opportunities and a brand new, state of the art ‘Advanced Technology’ build. The Plumbing team have seen a steady increase in numbers of full-time and apprenticeship learners. The area offers programmes from Level 1 to Level 3 and various part-time adult provisions in Plumbing and Gas. The area has recently taken on new work of installation of gas and electric Smart meters, developing a dedicated room to this provision. The College has excellent facilities which will be expanded in 18/19 and is supplemented by a dedicated Gas Assessment Centre.
As a Lecturer in Plumbing and Gas, you will have excellent communication and organisational skills, coupled with excellent relevant industry experience to develop the potential of students within the area.
Subjects covered within the Plumbing and Gas curriculum include hot and cold water supplies, sanitation, installing bathroom plumbing/heating radiators/heating controls, health & safety, Gas safety, installation and maintenance of gas boilers and water heaters, working with others and customer relations.
You will teach students in the 16-19 age group who are undertaking full-time/part time vocational courses and Apprenticeships as well as part-time 19+ students who are looking to develop their skills.
Ideally you will hold a teaching qualification (Cert Ed, PGCE or equivalent), and/or and Assessors Award for level 3 apprentices, or be willing to work towards either of these qualifications. If you do not have either of these qualifications, full training can be offered.
You will hold a minimum of Level 3 in plumbing and gas (or equivalent) and the relevant ACS competencies to enable teaching and assessment of the Gas elements
