Lecturer ESOL. Full Time. One year fixed term contract.
The Curriculum Area ESOL has a one year vacancy for a full-time Lecturer, starting in January 2019 and finishing in December 2019. The post holder will teach a range of newly set up ESOL and ESOL and Employability classes at various employer venues and community venues.
The applicant must hold a generic teaching qualification and an ESOL subject specific qualification.
The applicant will have a minimum of three years ESOL teaching experience, preparing adult students for ESOL Skills for Life qualifications, Functional Skills English or other language qualifications. A proven track record of working with students of different ages and abilities, assessing their language level, preparing and reviewing their Individual Learning Plans and completing all relevant enrolment, assessment and progression related documentation, is essential.
Lecturers will be expected to be able to evidence strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills and the ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team.
The applicant will work closely with the management, administration and teaching staff, Programme Leads and managers in curriculum delivery areas and support departments.
The adaptation and implementation of College systems with a view to making high quality learning accessible to all ESOL students and monitoring their impact on individual students and their learning is one of the key features of this role.
The applicant must be able to demonstrate experience of using digital tools to set up assessment schedules and to review learning.
The applicant must be prepared to travel to various venues to teach classes and to conduct initial and summative assessments. Some of the workplace based teaching hours will be outside the normal work day pattern as the classes will be set up to support the shift patterns of employees.
