Hudson are working with an established organisation in Stirling who are looking to recruit a Finance Manager within their team. The role will focus on key area’s covering Vat, Treasury and Insurance for the organisation. The post-holder will be directly supported by a Senior Finance Assistant and Finance Transactions Team leader, and will be responsible for their overall line management. Key Duties and Responsibilities To maintain and develop specialist tax knowledge in relation to VAT to ensure ability to provide advice on complex tax matters to staff across the business. Responsible for provision of professional advice in relation to VAT matters, responding to questions from staff at all levels throughout the business by working collaboratively, providing clear and appropriate guidance (both orally and in writing), explaining complex technical matters relating to VAT in a way that non finance staff can understand. To ensure advice is in accordance with relevant VAT legislation and also with financial procedures and to work collaboratively with other teams in finance to ensure the customer receives a rounded response by developing suitable policies and procedures where needed to support the advice given. To act as the main point of contact with the Insurance Broker and manage the annual renewal process and where appropriate the tender exercise to secure a good level of insurance coverage and value for money. To be responsible claims management and work with the underwriter and loss adjuster where applicable. Responsible for the appropriate investment of cash to deliver best value, balancing cash flow requirements to ensure the continued day to day operation of the organisation liaising with banks to achieve the best deals within appropriate counter-party limits. Develop detailed cash flow forecasting processes for short, medium and long term cash flow forecasting to inform the investment process. This will require liaison across key functions in Finance and across the business to develop information flows. Ensure treasury policy is appropriate and followed, recommending changes and developments as required, including monitoring counter- party risks and recommending changes to reflect movements in market conditions. Background/Experience Professional tax or accountancy qualification (ATT, CTA part qualified, or equivalent) or equivalent experience Extensive and detailed knowledge of indirect tax legislation in the UK Substantial experience of providing indirect tax advice in a large complex organisation Ability to communicate complex technical matters to non-technical experts Experience of delivering to deadlines and of taking responsibility and ownership of projects.
