Customer Engineer (Offshore)

JOB SUMMARY:
As an Vertiv Customer Engineer (Offshore) you will be an integral member of the Service Delivery team responsible for providing a Commissioning, Maintenance and Repair Service on UPS, charger and associated equipment supplied or maintained by the Company.
As Vertiv’s face-to-face representative on site, your objective is to promote the company as a professional UPS service provider.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Comply with all safety requirements as per company procedures & policies.
2. Comply with all environmental requirements as per company procedures & policies.
3. Carry out all project tasks allocated by Senior Engineer / Team Leader / supervisor in a safe and
efficient manner following company procedures.
4. Maintain a clean and tidy work environment at all times.
5. Maintain tools / equipment and be mindful of when it requires calibration and PAT testing or
renewal.
6. Become conversant with operation of the Chloride/Emerson/Vertiv-manufactured product.
7. Be fully conversant with maintenance & service guidelines GL09, GL10, GL11 & GL23
8. Undertake the commissioning of complete UPS systems at a variety of sites onshore, offshore
and/or overseas to either manufacturer recommendations or customer agreed SAT procedures.
9. Carry out contract maintenance and inspection on a planned basis to manufacturers’ recommendations and/or customer agreed requirements.
10. Provide a repair service to customers either as a planned service or on call-out response.
11. Appropriately and professionally respond to all requests for assistance (whether on-call or otherwise).
12. Assist in planning and preparation of maintenance work within service department in order to deliver suitable workpack instructions to the engineer.
13. Assist the Technical Manager / Delivery Manager with engineer working practice checks and the day-to-day operation of the department.
14. Ensure components/equipment required for a job are identified and highlighted for procurement/readiness in a timely manner.
15. The timely and accurate completion of all departmental, company and appropriate customer paperwork and administration documents.
16. Promote company image on site by providing a professional service to customer, where necessary instructing site staff on proper care and operation of installed equipment.
17. Provide information to Technical Manager aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the service operations.
18. Identify opportunities for sales of equipment, maintenance contract and replacement batteries/capacitors and pass such leads to Service Sales section.
19. Report any problems / delays to Technical Manager.
20. The work will require work offshore UKCS plus an amount of UK and overseas travel; this is limited where possible to a level which ensures engineers efficiency by the company operating a geographically based engineering team.
21. The work will require the engineer to work on a call-out rota and be available for overtime (within reason) when required.
22. Ensure that any activity, task and responsibility required by role in terms of the International Trade Compliance Regulation is managed and performed in full compliance with the Company ITC certification program itself.

Customer Engineers, Tech Support staff & Projects team.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
➢ HNC /HND in Electrical/Electronic engineering or equivalent, or
➢ 5 years experience as a UPS Service engineer, or
➢ 10 years in the Electrical/Electronic Industry or similar.
➢ Strong focus on safe working practices.
➢ Strong focus on customer satisfaction and long-term customer relationship building.
➢ Excellent written and verbal communications.
➢ Excellent organizational and time management skills.
➢ Self motivated and capable of operating with minimal supervision.
➢ Ability to successfully interface in potentially stressful situations.
➢ Clean Driving License.
➢ IT conversant – a laptop computer or equivalent is used for interfacing with the Company’s products and for completing service reports and timesheets
