Sales Engineer – Fabrication

Stockton-on-Tees, Cleveland £30,000 to £45,000 (OTE£55,000)

Job Profile

As the successful Sales Engineer, your primary functions are as follows:

* Seek enquiries

* Assemble bids and make proposals

* Negotiate and secure profitable orders

* Develop customer base

* 25% of the role will be travelling to visit customers

You will be responsible for the production of tenders and provision of sales support in respect of client enquiries, to meet the objectives of the company’s overall business plans and strategies.

Reporting directly to the Sales Manager and monthly to the board of Directors.


* Development of new business accounts and maintenance of business opportunities within existing customer base

* Produce customer visit reports, monthly sales reports, prospect order reports and budgets

* Prepare and create Spare Part recommendations from existing company data and supplier information

* Prepare and produce Spare Parts Tenders

* Ensure that initiated tenders meet company requirements in terms of selection, pricing, terms and conditions and lead time

* Attend both internal sales meetings and meetings with clients (which at times will involve travelling abroad)

* Visiting customers (25% travel)

Skills and Experience:

* Several years’ experience of selling in an engineering environment preferably to the nuclear, process, marine or defence industry

* Technical requirements of enquiries: including drawings, specifications and material requirements

* Able to understand Terms and Conditions of contract

* Familiar with engineering terminology in the target industries

* Experience of dealing with complex tenders

* Be a good communicator with excellent IT skills

Hours of Work:

* 37hrs per week 8am to 4:45pm, Monday to Thursday, 8am to 12noon, Friday

* Overtime is paid at x1.333hrs weekdays & x1.5hrs weekends
