Our client a global orgainsation are looking for a Design Assessor / Design Appraisal Specialist

Location: Sheffield

Role Purpose:

Assess the design, manufacture and in-service aspects of engineering assets, against agreed Codes, Standards, specifications, procedures, using experience and knowledge appropriate for routine situations

Key Responsibilities:

* Perform assessments and provide advice for service delivery within agreed parameters that include budget constraints and contractual requirements

* Produce the deliverable within the agreed parameters in a defined format

* Discuss/present the deliverable with the external client and be able to assess alternative solutions where appropriate

* Assess/ recommend the time/value of the work to be undertaken for an external client within an agreed fee/cost structure and issue quotations up to an agreed limit and company’s standard terms and conditions (e.g. Commercial Notice)

* Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation and industry standards

* To give technical guidance to other employees, as appropriate, and disseminate information to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application

* Assist in service delivery improvement by communicating to internal/external client feedback as appropriate

Technical/Professional Qualifications/Requirements:

* A relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognised university. An additional higher tertiary degree e.g. Masters may be preferred

* Preferably a qualified member of a recognised professional body e.g. nspe,, engc, ecindia, imeche

* Shall possess sufficient relevant working experience to demonstrate good awareness of the relevant specialist requirements, knowledge and application

* 4-6 years relevant working experience

* Experience in design / appraisal of pressure equipment, piping and associated aspects

* Must have experience in working with FE Analysis and using FE Analysis software packages e.g. Ansys etc

* Essential to have knowledge of and to have worked with various regulations, codes, standards including ASME VIII Div-1 & 2; ADMerkblatt; EN13445; EN13480; EN12952 & 12953; PED; IBR

* Knowledge of container codes and assessment of containers will be an advantage

* Knowledge of evaluating life assessment of assets will be an advantage

* Professional Engineer / International Professional Engineer qualifications will be an advantage

* Effective interpersonal skills including communication and reporting in English at all levels

* Proficiency in MS Office is essential
