Salary: £30-33K
Hours: M-T, 8am - 4.30pm. F, 8am-3pm
Holiday: 20 per annum + 8 BH.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* To provide technical support and expertise of manufacturing processes in order to improve performance with regard to quality, output, productivity and cost
* To assist with the development of and implementation of quality improvements, including the updating and maintenance of FMEA’s, process flows, process control, scrap reduction
* To action internal and customer quality concerns / containment actions and root cause analysis
* To ensure the effective management within the production area of process changes, engineering change requests, product revisions and upgrade
* Ensure effective implementation of new product introduction through TPR trials and approvals
* To maintain and update all line documentation and procedures in relation to the manufacturing process within the production area
* To ensure the successful introduction of new plant and equipment
* Monitor and analyse the production areas output, quality and cycle times
* Work and comply to quality procedures
* Ensure the successful design / manufacture / operation / introduction of new processes / tooling / fixtures / machinery
* Drive data driven continuous improvement activities
* Constantly review and investigate industry technology improvements and suggest best practice manufacturing and processes where applicable.

Key Competencies:

* Minimum HNC / HND in Mechanical Engineering
* Understanding of lean manufacturing processes and quality tools + techniques i.e. VSM’s / 5S / Work Place Organisation / PDCA / Visual Management / Kaizens
* Understanding of PLC’s (programming skills desirable)
* Knowledge of Robotics (programming skills desirable)
* Computer literacy
* An ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
* Ability to be self-driven with a flexible approach
* High level of oral and written communication and ability to act tactfully with all levels of the company, suppliers and customers
* Understanding of Health and Safety in the workplace
* Product Handling
* Good understanding of Engineering, in particular; quality concepts and documentation
* Good communication and personal skills
* Responsiveness to unusual customer demands and commitment to overtime at short notice
* Active contribution to business improvement goals and strategy
* Ability to act tactfully with customers, suppliers and internal departments
* Understanding of customer quality requirements

* Be able to seek guidance from the appropriate person, in relation to items which are complex or are unsure of
* Strong presentation skills
* Knowledge / understanding of Punch Pressing / Injection Moulding / CNC Trim Programming (Tebis) / Sonic Welding / Pulse Staking (desirable)

The successful candidate will be qualified to HNC or HND level in Mechanical Engineering
