Amour Recruitment are working with our UK leading engineering and manufacturing client based in Fareham who are looking to recruit for a Production Shift Supervisor on a swing shift rota. They right candidate must have manufacturing supervision experience but are flexible for the right candidate.


• Taking overall control of the shift, to ensure production and quality targets are met.
• Ensuring all parts produced / packed on the shift meet the defined quality standard.
• Skills development of shift members

Within the role you will be reporting to and liaising with the Production Supervisor, Team Leaders, Technical Team and other Shift Supervisors and will be responsible for all Team Leaders & Production Operators allocated to the Shift


• Machine safety checks before machines are operated each day including forklifts.
• Equipment maintenance tasks are carried out in accordance with the defined schedule (these tasks may in some cases be allocated to someone not on the shift, but the Shift Supervisor must ensure they are done or take corrective action)
• First off checks
• Regular quality checks
• Part identification (inspection stamps and box identification)
• Production tally’s are maintained and records completed on batch paperwork
• Safe working practices are followed
• Housekeeping – cleaning and tidying as appropriate
• Coach and train ALL members of staff on the shift to undertake on all the above tasks.


• Agreeing the production priority sequence with the Production Supervisor and ensuring the priorities are respected.
• Liaising with adjacent shifts to ensure a smooth transfer between shifts.
• Planning the allocation of resources on the shift to ensure production priorities and targets are met
• Ensuring efficient working of all resources optimising staff allocation to task and coordinating setups to minimise productive downtime.
• Monitoring staff are carrying out appropriate quality checks and are clear on the quality standards that apply to the tasks/jobs they are working on
• Ensuring staff members are only allocated to tasks which they are competent to undertake and verifying their competency with regular checks.
• Identify staff members who are willing and able to further develop their skills and capabilities and overseeing training. (such as learning to setup equipment)
• Identifying learning opportunities for individual staff members such that their capabilities can be maximised through appropriate coaching and training
• Identifying skills gaps; and in liaison with the PS making appropriate plans to fill any gaps identified through appropriate staff development or recruitment.
