Lead Design Engineer required for growing, well established business who design and manufacture bespoke products. The company have an extensive product range and continues reinvestment. As a business they offer modern premises and long term job stability.

The successful candidate will be an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer, mechanical or multi-skilled backgrounds are encouraged to apply; all industrial/manufacturing backgrounds will be considered. It is essential you have strong CAD draughting experience, feel confident with both re-modification and concept design. It is essential you have experience working with Solid Edge software; Microsoft Project experience is desirable but training can be given. Previous management, team leader experience highly desirable.

This is a senior management position, you will oversee a milt-skilled team of 13 designers. Your role will be a 50/50 split of hands on work and management and development of your team. You will work closely alongside a project manager and the shop floor to ensure projects are delivered on time and to the correct technical standard; this will involve working with PLM software. The company manufacture on site so you will be accountable verifying the accuracy of all technical drawings, and managing all engineering design change, resolving mech/elec issues where necessary. You will be working to tight project schedules and generating and documenting BOM’s. Alongside the hands on work you will accountable for the development of your team, this will involve identifying skill gaps, coaching and mentoring.
