Quality Engineer - Gillingham (Kent) - Permanent - Competitive Salary (DOE)

A global automotive emission, fuel economy and aftermarket solutions provider are looking for an experienced and dynamic Operational Support Engineer to join the expanding team on a permanent basis. Located in Kent, the company offers a very competitive salary, 27 days holiday and a fantastic benefits package.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

* Lineside 'hands on' support to the working group, supporting the operator on the process to resolve problems
* Deliver projects and process improvements from concept through to completion - to include mc operation,
* Provide practical problem solving on the process
* To support the operation in terms of providing the means and process to manufacture product to the correct quality, volume & cost.
* To actively reduce costs of manufacture (MEIT) whilst maintaining product quality & volume.
* Support the hourly needs of the operation by monitoring and responding to process output signals such as OA performance, Traffic light charts, FTQ data etc.
* To create operational standard work and line balance, understanding process constraints
* To identify and/or support MEIT/MCIP and lean activities within the plant
* To ensure control of departmental key characteristics (M,C,L, QCI)
* Ensure that the work environment meets the requirements for environmental, ergonomic and health & safety considerations.

Essential requirements:

* Personal strengths should include: Customer focused, attention to detail, self-confidence, goal orientated, personal initiative, good communication and team working.
* Ability to work in a structured, organised manner and mindful of standard work - both as applied to the manufacturing process and in the engineers' approach to workload
* Analytical and data literate
* Current IT knowledge of MS word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, project etc.
* Have the ability to get teams engaged in the improvement of the process

Desirable requirements:

Ideally (Mechanical) Engineering Degree or relevant industry experience in a broad spectrum of activities.
