Security Analyst (Cyber/Firewall) - Manchester

£35k + bonus + benefits

My client, a legal Insurance services company is looking for a Security Analyst who will provide the organization with subject expertise in cyber security technologies.
The company are the leading providers of legal and handling services to the UK general insurance sector. Currently they provide specialist services to 12 of the UK`s 20 largest motor insurers in areas such as counter fraud, costs, credit hire, defendant services, large & complex injury and recoveries.

The basic purpose of the job and its primary objectives

You will be part of a team responsible for ensuring IT systems are protected from internal and external threats. Working with the IT Infrastructure teams you will be required to implement technologies, systems and patches where necessary to ensure continued protection from threats.

The firm is at the start of a move to cloud infrastructure and services, as well as a transformation of the current information management and access platforms. As such you will have the chance to input into and assist in the design of the future of how the firm manages itself in a secure fashion while enabling users to work in a more effective manner. You will be required to implement security processes across the organization in line with the current and future frameworks.

Main Responsibilities

Monitor and identify system vulnerabilities using security tools
Remediate vulnerabilities and mitigate any security risks through patch management techniques
Manage and administer Anti-Virus, Firewalls , IDS and Group Policy
Work within and assist in designing in IT security frameworks
Monitor security threats and execute tactical and strategic responses
Assist in evaluating IT security technologies and lead on implementation
Provide security guidance on the design of desktop, applications and network architecture
Prepare and maintain documentation of network configurations and architectures
Assist the IT Department with technical projects from a security perspective
Assist in the execution of audits and investigations.

Core skills and behaviours

Understanding of Information Security Frameworks (e.g. ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials)
Infrastructure Security and Hardening skills
Office 365 experience (ideally MDM, DLP solutions)
Information management experience
Hands on experience of Firewall Administration
Experience support security technologies such as anti-virus products, vulnerability scanning tools, Remote Access, VPN, Network Monitoring, DLP, Web & Email Gateways, Identity Management, Cloud Security, CASB technologies, IDS and IPS
Management of vulnerability and patch management systems
Experience of wireless and mobile security standards and technologies
Ability to understand security vs usability
Ability to communicate security concepts to a wide range of audiences
Working knowledge of GDPR
ISO Compliance Experience
Cloud technologies and security practices
Experience working within Change management policies and processes
Experience in dealing with sensitive information
