Job Description

Our client is is a leading provider of electronic components, subsystems, microwave and radio frequency products that connect, protect and control critical applications in the commercial aviation, defence, space, semiconductor test, medical, rail, industrial and test and measurement markets, and is looking for a Technical Services Support / Design Drafter for performing detail design/drafting work for Technical Services and Engineering and for providing technical support to sales, operations and external customers. The successful appointee will support the technology and product design aspects of the new product introduction process in order to contribute to a commercially successful product launch, and also product changes, collaborates with Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Operations and Finance.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Support NPD for segments adhering to all requirements of the Stage Gate process, Technical Documentation (2D, 3D, electronic, etc.), ensuring design outputs adhere to relevant internal & external standards including appropriate system linkages.

* Administer systems, data management in ERP, Engineering work flow, Model libraries, CAD, PLM/PDM ensuring information control, standardization, accuracy & efficiency.

* Supports the technology and product design aspects of the new product introduction process in order to contribute to a commercially successful product launch.

* Keeps abreast of Drafting technologies

* Suggests and supports changes to systems, tools and processes to optimize overall business performance.

* Collaborates with Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Operations and Finance to create marketing communications and public relations for new product introduction.

* Collaborates with Sales, Marketing and Operations on product lifecycle management.

* Collaborates with Sales and Marketing to assists with technical content provided to the customer. .

* Create component /assembly detailed drawings in 2D and 3D solids on the company CAD system.

* Work in a network environment and be capable of sharing files with others on a design team.

* Follow Drawing Change procedures: Review submitted changes for validity. Then make a variety of drawing changes when necessary.

* Prepare drafting packages and ensure the drawings meet Proper drafting standards and company drawing requirements.

* Review drawings created by other Drafters for accuracy when required.

* Perform MRP/ERP functions within the Technical Services group.

* Assign part numbers for new components, new assemblies and when necessary new connector series.

* Codify p/n’s using codification database for entry into ERP system where applicable.

* Create parts lists within the ERP/MRP system for assemblies that utilize a tabulated drawing.

* Answering Technical Service requests (both Internal and External customers) by providing quick accurate answers/solutions to a wide range of customer inquiries regarding products.

* Conduct customer specification reviews.

* Perform any other task(s) necessary to support the RD&T Department as well as the Organization.

* Works with Engineering and Operations to assure that designs are manufacturable.

Required Skills and Experience

* Secondary level technical education

* Effective communicator, makes commitments and delivers on promises.

* Proficient in all aspects of CAD including 3D solids modelling.

* Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

* Experience with SolidWorks 3D modelling software or equivalent and understanding GD&T, ANSI/ASME standards.

* Strong Product Knowledge

* The ability to make effective, timely decisions by sourcing and analysing critical information.

* Willing and able to identify and support change and continuous improvement in own and wider business environment.

* Relies on experience, analytical capacity, problem solving skills/tools and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
