Senior Developer/Architect Our client is looking to recruit a senior developer to join their team in Derby. This opportunity will suit an experienced developer that likes a varied role rather than purely coding. Initially the role will be approx. 70% hands on development with the rest of the time spent on architecture and mentoring junior team members. Our client anticipates that the bias will shift towards architecture in the months ahead. Principal Functions The timely development of new functionality and the maintenance of existing functionality. To take an idea and produce technical specifications for colleagues to work with. To investigate new technologies and adapt them to our products and business. Essential Skills Excellent knowledge of C# and appreciation of OOP paradigms An open willingness to keep up to date with best practise Web Development An excellent understanding of software development principles and design patterns with a methodical approach; An enthusiastic self-starter who can work as part of a team An innovator who can inspire direction for product An understanding and experience of:- C# MVC Entity Framework SQL Server and T-SQL HTML5 CSS JQuery and JavaScript Desirable Skills .NET Core Microsoft Azure Web APIs Experience of Agile development principals Main Duties and Responsibilities To constructively and pro-actively manage: technical issues; design concepts; peer expectations; priorities To generate documents to capture and summarise ideas and solutions that are clear to technical and non-technical team members using common office tools such as Word, Excel, Skype, email etc. To develop a technical spec from functional spec such that other developers, contractors or suitable outsource development resource can code the work To mentor developers and junior developers in their completion of said specifications To create the Web Pages that will deliver the application functionality Work to the specifications and schedule provided There is a good deal of progression available within the role – this person will ideally move into architecture within 12-18 months in the role and there are opportunities to manage teams. The ideal candidate will be passionate about technology and keen to keep their skills up to date by investigating emerging technologies. This individual will be shaping their software products for years to come so there is a need to be an influencer that can get others on board with ideas – an entrepreneurial thinker that can bring passion and energy to the team. Benefits include contributory pension, BUPA after 6 months. Salary £45,000 - £50,000.
