Community Companion Volunteer
- Full Time
St Barnabas House offers care and support to people in the Worthing, Arun, Adur and Henfield areas.
We are looking for volunteers to join our dedicated team of Community Companions.
Isolation is a big issue for many people coping with life-limiting illnesses which can also be the case for their carers. As a Community Companion volunteer, you will be helping people at a very difficult time in their lives by providing social and practical support during a weekly two hour visit. To have someone who can pop in for a chat or lend a helping hand can make a big difference.
Another important way that the Community Companions help is by providing company to a patient, so that the carer can have a short period of time to themselves.
If you have 2-3 hours to spare during the week, like meeting people and would like to volunteer in a role where you have direct contact with patients and their carers in their own homes, then becoming a Community Companion is a special role that may suit you.
For this role we provide two mandatory training days and ongoing support. We ask that volunteers in this role be at least 18 years of age.
The next training dates are Thursday 21st February 2019 and Friday 1st March 2019 at 09:15 - 15:00.
Before this you will be offered an informal interview to assess your suitability for the role.
If you would like to speak to someone about this role, please call 01903 706360.
