IMMEDIATE START

Academics are an established education recruitment agency who are urgently recruiting a School Chef/Cook for a short stay school in Worcester to start ASAP. The School Cook will be responsible for ensuring the children experience a variety of healthy balanced and nutritious foods throughout the day. The role will be temporary but could go permanent for the right person.

Applicants will also be asked to provide a Child’s Workforce DBS that is dated within the last 6 months, have a DBS on the update service or be willing to pay for a new application at the cost of £52.00

Key responsibilities

* To be responsible for preparation, cooking, and service of food in school for a maximum of 68 students and 32 staff, this may vary on a weekly basis due to the nature of the School.
* Assist with the development of school policies and procedures to catering services.
* Plan, operate and control the production and service of school related duties.
* Devise, plan and prepare balanced multi and/or limited choice menus, taking into account the dietary needs and preferences of the pupils and varied cultural and religious backgrounds and to ensure that costing is within the allocated budget.
* Ensure that homemade frozen meals are available to be used in the event of absence.
* Order food goods and other commodities from suppliers within the agreed school budget and manage stock control.
* Take responsibility for the cleanliness of equipment and the kitchen and to guide duty staff when necessary.
* Maintain high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen in accordance with health and safety, food hygiene and COSHH regulations at all times.
* Ensure storage and management of food and other consumables in line with health and safety and hygiene regulations.
* To provide a calendar of catering commitments during the school year to include work to be done during the school holiday periods.
* Organise and assist with school catering functions under the direction of the line manager, this includes the provision of meals to other Advance Trust schools as required.
* Promote healthy eating within school.
