To support our plans, we are now looking for a talented Principal Optical Engineer to join our growing team. You will contribute to the development of a new generation of high power lasers and associated equipment. Along the product journey, you will use your problem-solving skills to deliver innovative solutions to ensure that we stay at the cutting edge of our industry and are able to help our customers develop the next generation of solutions. The Role: - Take ownership of new laser product development activities from concept to transfer to production - Work with Engineers to define and agree on requirements, develop designs and create technical solutions - Motivate small project teams and enable them to perform to their full potential - Support business development by writing new R&D proposals and assisting the Sales teams with customer enquiries - Work with various departments to ensure the successful transfer of processes to production - Design and execute experiments, feasibility studies and prototype testing/assemblies - Occasionally travel to other NKT Photonics offices within Europe The Individual: - Experience of designing, developing and delivering products to production within the ultra-fast laser industry - A qualification in Physics, Natural Sciences or similar - The ability to lead and motivate small project teams - Strong analytical skills, including the ability to question complex information, identify root causes and effects and deliver inspiring solutions - Be passionate about what you do We embrace a culture in which a healthy work-life balance is encouraged; and we promote a positive, supportive working environment.
