Ordnance Survey has an opportunity available for a Technical Operations Executive to join the team based in Southampton. Working as part of the OS Consumer team, you will be responsible for managing the deployment and infrastructure of our high performance, web and software solutions. In addition to release pipeline, service reliability and infrastructure security activities, you will maintain, trouble shoot, fault fix and support key web applications. You’ll be working closely with Ordnance Survey’s wider technical team including developers, project managers and other key stakeholders to develop and maintain our web-based systems. Key duties and responsibilities: You will be responsible for supporting the Consumer delivery teams in balancing speed, cost, quality and risk to delivery customer value. You will also: - Creating, releasing and testing infrastructure changes - Running our OS Consumer websites - Implementing a high level of security and monitoring process - Leading and improving our use of cloud platforms - Working with our managed service partner to successfully deliver projects Skills and experience required to be our Technical Operations Executive: You will have experience of working in an agile environment with the ability to work across multiple projects. Ideally you will have a track record in a similar DevOps role, you will have experience in building high quality continuous integration (CI) solutions and non-production environment solutions in support of delivery teams. You’ll be able to demonstrate a good understanding of common web architectures, infrastructure monitoring and deployment tools and have experience of common open source databases (i.e. My SQL, Postgres).
