Group Finance Manager
Here at N Brown we are on the lookout for a Group Finance Manager to join us on a 12-15-month fixed term contract. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically proficient and commercially minded accountant to join the team to maintain the integrity of statutory reporting requirements whilst still delivering commercial insight to the reconciliation and maintenance of our net asset base. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will be a key business partner providing an overview of the consolidated income statement. You will liaise with all divisions to provide the board with a high level of commercial insight across all income and expenditure headings. You should have a proven track record of building, leading and developing a team whilst managing change successfully within a wider function. We are looking for a professional who has excellent interpersonal relationships with the ability to influence and manage complex stakeholder relationships at all levels of the organisation, who is naturally inquisitive with a desire to understand a broad range of commercial issues. As a Group Finance Manager, your daily duties will include: Ensuring the accounts at period end, half year end and year end continue to meet the requirements of all new and existing accounting standards. Complete period end consolidated group and individual subsidiary income statements. Detailing income statement calculations including revenue, VAT, product margin postings with reconciliation and review of debtor, stock, payroll and all opex headings at every period, half year and year end. Producing income statements, balance sheets and cashflow reports for period end Trade Performance Review submissions. Completing work already started to ensure IFRS16 (lease accounting) compliance by FY20, with an estimate of the financial impact at FY19 yearend accompanied by supporting board papers. Reviewing the accounting for all external arrangements with the banks, ensuring all covenant requirements are maintained. Overseeing the calculation of actual, budget and forecasted derivative financial instrument assets & liabilities. Overseeing the preparation and agreement with auditors of all subsidiary annual statutory financial statements. Providing detailed support to Investor Relations team to ensure reporting used in quarterly trading statements and half yearly interim and prelim reporting is consistent. Leading and managing other divisional commercial business partners through the half yearly audit processes and associated statutory reports. Reviewing and updating the capital cashflow model every period end to reflect both actuals and commercial business partners latest forecasts. Overseeing exceptional cost reports and reconciliations, liaising with financial services team to manage and reconcile the customer redress provisions and cashflow forecasts. Overseeing regulatory reports including FCA, ONS. Continuing ongoing project work on Procure to Pay project with a view to simplifying the purchasing process for the whole Group. To be a successful Group Finance Manager, you will have the following skills and experiences: Formal CIMA/ACA/ACCA qualification or equivalent. To be technically astute with an appreciation of applicable financial reporting standards is critical. A proven track record of building, leading and developing a financial team. Demonstrated experience in managing change successfully within the financial function. Experience of working in the retail sector would be preferred but not essential. Strong technology skills including computerised financial systems and Microsoft Office. Being close to the detail, data driven and analytical whilst also being able to articulate results clearly to non-finance individuals.
