We have an excellent opportunity available for a Registered Care Manager to join our client’s Children’s Home in Horley, Surrey. The Role As the Registered Care Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management of the home, ensuring compliance with Ofsted and Children’s Homes Regulations 2015. You will also be responsible for managing the staff team, where you will need to show strong leadership skills and the ability to support others. As the Registered Care Manager, your duties will include: • Promoting the welfare and development of the young people, ensuring their needs are recognised and met. • Ensuring that the home provides an environment that is safe and sensitive to the needs of young people being looked after. • Using the home as a model to support and develop the social skills of the young people. • Managing the home in compliance with the ethos of the company in providing a homely environment that is enjoyable and stimulating for each young person. • Ensuring that the young people when confronted with stressful situations or crisis are offered appropriate support and to ensure that the staff team is offered support in dealing with these situations, by taking the leading role with a strong vision. • Oversee and participate in the development, implementation, monitoring and reviewing of the individual young people’s care plans. • Developing and maintaining good working relationships with parents, social workers, schools and other professionals concerned with the welfare of the young people. • Ensuring specific needs are met including religious observance, culturally significant needs, dietary requirements, health/medical needs, ensuring required medication / treatment is provided. • To be concerned for the welfare of the staff offering support at times of stress, praising work completed and monitoring performance including sickness absence. The Person To be successful for the role of Registered Care Manager it is essential you have the following skills and attributes: • Suitable to work with children and young people. • Able to build appropriate relationships with young people and form good communications. • Develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, young people and their families as well as other professional organisations. • Able to write clear, concise reports. • Can understand the needs of a young person and meet those needs through planning and assessment. • Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours. • Can evidence leadership skills and be able to develop, plan, set objectives and goals which are attainable. • Minimum of 2 years working with children and adolescents in a residential setting. • Experience with and understanding of Ofsted. • Good knowledge of Child Protection procedures. • Willingness to undertake and achieve additional Diploma qualifications and all training provided. • Detailed knowledge of the Children's Act 1989. • Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce. Salary & Hours In the role of Registered Care Manager you will work 40 per week Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm, plus on-call duties as required. You will also receive 30 days’ holiday per annum (including bank holidays) and there is a salary on offer of £33,000 to £40,000 per annum plus benefits scheme and pension. There is training provided for a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management.
