Vehicle Cyber Security Specialist

Location: Manchester

Rate: DOE

Duration: 12 months

Clearance: DV or willing to undergo DV

Now that cars are coming with many wireless features, they are starting to become more and more susceptible and exposed to cyber-attacks. Our client is starting a project to manage and understand potential cyber threats that are created due to the link between smartphone and vehicle technologies.

This role will require an engineer who has a strong understanding with regards to vehicles, familiar with the technologies used in modern-day vehicles, and past experience with information security and cyber security. This role requires assessing the security/danger of a variety of vehicles and their systems, then relay this information to both management and customers with information on how the risks should be mitigated.


  • Assessing the security of vehicles and their IT and safety critical systems
  • Removal and replacement of components
  • Writing detailed vulnerability reports
  • Designing and developing tools to support research work
  • Working closely with suppliers, government departments and external partners
  • Understand, obey and help improve garage working conditions

Essential skills:

  • Experience with security research, reverse engineering and vulnerability and exploitation research
  • Understanding of information security practices
  • Familiarity with automotive technologies
  • Strategic thinking, problem solving and sound judgement
  • Full driving license
