Senior Software Engineer, Development Team

Reports to - Technical Manager
Day Rate - £500-550

Job Purpose and Context -
Provide software engineering expertise to the development team. The Team works to an agile approach and takes proof of concepts from research through to production.
An experienced engineer, with a proven track record of delivering high quality software, to quality and time is required. All developed capabilities will be deployed in high priority, high risk, time pressured scenarios and as such all software must be robust, and written to an extremely high standard. A thorough approach and attention to detail is required.
The team member is responsible for:
Software Development - Design and development of high quality and maintainable software.
Testing - Unit testing, with an emphasis on unit test coverage. Integration and system testing.
Design and Documentation. Design and documentation at the architectural and component level to a high standard.
Communication and joint working. Working closely with team members, suppliers, other government departments and external partners.
Health and safety, legal compliance. Team members have a responsibility to ensure that all work carried out in a safe environment and that R&D efforts are appropriately authorised.
Job Related Capabilities:
(E) Proven track record of designing and developing high-quality software.
(E) Experience of embedded software systems development
(E) Solid coding, testing and debugging skills in C++/C
(E) Strategic thinking, problem solving and sound judgment.
(E) Highly motivated and committed
(D) Knowledge of operating system internals and devices.
(D) Coding, testing and debugging skills in script languages such as Bash and Python.
(D) Knowledge of vehicles and related systems
(D) Knowledge of the communication protocols, including telecoms, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS.
(D) Background in information security and vulnerability research
(D) Knowledge computer forensics
(D) Full Driving Licence.
