Elevation Senior Finance are delighted to supporting a leading organisation is Selby as they seek to appoint a Financial Accountant. Working closely with the Financial Accounting Manager you will have responsibility for providing technical accounting guidance across the business. Working across all operational and commercial departments, this role will seek to understand the accounting implication of the businesses increasing range of services and contractual arrangements. You will ensure senior stakeholders in the business and wider Group are well briefed on the potential impact of certain actions on the businesses financial results and reporting. You will contribute to ensuring a robust financial reporting framework and compliance with all relevant accounting standards. Duties & Responsibilities: -Role supports the business as a key member of the Finance team, taking accountability for all areas of financial accounting. -The role forms a key part of the leadership within the Finance team, helping to set standards and drive performance in financial control -The role has accountability for managing the external audit process on behalf of the business ensuring all impacted parties within the business unit are prepared -Interaction with non-finance teams will be critical to understanding the substance and intended outcome of proposed actions, in particular, the Trading, Commercial and Treasury teams -Management and development of a team of three people within the Financial Accounting team -Oversight and successful delivery of the annual audit process, including preparation, management and communication at all stages -Ensuring robust financial controls are established, well understood and being followed across the finance team -Pro-active engagement with external auditors on critical areas and judgements, ensuring treatments are agreed well in advance -Smooth monthly close process across the Finance team -Review and sign-off on new and existing derivative contract valuations The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate the following skills and experiences: -Fully qualified ACA/ACCA accountant with solid PQE in a practice or business environment -Proven people management skills and the ability to establish and develop high-performing teams -Confident liaising with external parties and managing these relationships on behalf of the business -Strong knowledge of existing and emerging IFRSs -Attention to detail and a comprehensive understanding of financial control -Commercial acumen, able to bridge the gap between the accounting implications of certain actions and the commercial objectives -Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including non-finance colleagues -Ability to influence and provide challenge to the business, driving change where required and ensuring their views are clearly understood -Excellent communicator, capable of translating complex matters into simple and understandable language -Confident and self-motivated with a flexible approach to work Elevation Accountancy & Finance is a specialist division of Elevation Recruitment focusing on the recruitment of talented Accountancy and Finance professionals across all levels, from Ledger Clerks through to Financial Directors in Yorkshire and surrounding regions.
