Science Teacher (Maternity Cover) LOCATION: Petersfield, Hampshire JOB TITLE: Science Teacher (Maternity Cover) SALARY & BENEFITS: Competitive WORKING HOURS: Full-Time Monday-Friday The Science Department at Ditcham Park School is looking for an ambitious and inspirational new teacher to join their highly successful team from February 2019. We wish to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic Science Teacher to join an outstanding and innovative Science Department. An ability and experience teaching across Key Stages 3 & 4 is essential. Chemistry and Biology specialism is preferred. As part of the schools aims to ‘Prepare Pupils for the Future’ and to ‘Promote Academic Excellence’ the science department works hard to create engaging and practical science lessons that results in excellent progress and a well rounded science education. This is a full time post providing maternity cover for the second in department. It will suit a high calibre individual who has a passion for Science education and the ambition to help develop Science as an area of excellence in the School. She/he will have the enthusiasm, energy and commitment to support, stretch and encourage pupils within their lessons. The successful candidate will be accountable to the Head of Science for the quality, success and development of all aspects of his/her role. The successful candidate should expect to:  Possess a high level of scientific knowledge and expertise.  Undertake and fulfil all the responsibilities and obligations as a Teacher of Science such as planning lessons, revision seminars, and supporting the Head of Department in providing an outstanding science education for all students.  Teach all sciences up to trilogy GCSE level. Teach at least two sciences to separate sciences GCSE level. A Chemistry and Biology specialism is preferred.  Assess, record and report on the personal development and academic attainment and achievements of pupils.  Attend briefings, register pupils and assist with school duties during the working day  Attend meetings as required with staff, parents and when appropriate with outside agencies/providers.  Have a commitment to child protection and safeguarding.
