The Kent Resilience Team (a multi agency partnership that includes blue light services, local government and other agencies working to improve community resilience and keep Kent and Medway safe) have an opportunity for a Communications and Engagement Officer to join the team in Kent. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and you will receive a highly competitive salary of £29,235 - £33,438 per annum. This is an exciting new communications role working for key government and emergency service agencies in Kent and Medway which helps to keep the county safe. As our Communications and Engagement Officer, you will be an experienced Communications professional who has developed successful and engaging campaigns. You will also be experienced in working collaboratively with stakeholders to influence and produce effective communication strategies. The role includes supporting the KRF in contingency planning and engagement strategies relating to Brexit. Key responsibilities as our Communications and Engagement Officer: - Provide recommendations on how the county resilience forum can consult local residents and stakeholders about their priorities and needs regarding resilience - Develop an annual programme of coordinated campaigns, engagement and communications activity on particular projects, seeking out opportunities in liaison with key stakeholders in the county - Develop engaging content across a range of platforms to promote resilience that can be shared by KRF member Organisations using a range of channels including social media, events, news media, direct e-newsletters and through existing County-based Organisations - Update content as needed on the KRF website and make recommendations about setting up, updating, managing and monitoring social media sites eg Facebook, Twitter etc to help achieve communications objectives - Take photographs or video as needed - Serve as a focal point and coordinator for KRT communications and engagement work including collating and disseminating information as needed - Develop good working relationships with KRF partners in particular the Media and Communications Group, and liaise to keep members informed about how they can support agreed activity to build resilient communities - Be prepared to work out of hours on occasion if needed. What we’re looking for in our Communications and Engagement Officer: - Detailed knowledge of communications, media and digital methods and best practice - Knowledge and experience of social media and content management systems - Excellent communication skills across a wide range of mediums including writing, visual and digital - Well organised, with proven time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage resources - Ability to build effective and trusting relationships with senior Managers and external Organisations (including Kent Resilience Forum members) with confidence to be persuasive, flexible and solution driven - Degree level or equivalent or practical experience gained in a communications or marketing environment - Experience of developing marketing and communications campaigns that have had a demonstrable impact on behaviour - Experience of using a wide range of communications and digital channels to develop and implement effective and measurable campaigns - Experience of marketing using social media advertising aimed at reaching targeted audiences - Experience in public sector or emergency services would be desirable If you feel have the skills and experience to become our Communications and Engagement Officer please click ‘apply’ today, we’d love to hear from you!
