Personal Programme Assistant/Rehabilitation Assistant
Rehabilitation Assistant Location: Leeds, Yorkshire Reports To: Programme Manager (PM) Salary: £14 per hour Hours: Up to 10 hours per week for an initial 3 months, flexibility to continue required. The Company Reach was established in 1994 to provide a unique home and community based rehabilitation service for child and adult survivors of moderate and severe traumatic brain injury. It is now the largest private sector organisation dedicated solely to the provision of rehabilitation at home and they are now looking for a Rehabilitation Assistant / Personal Programme Assistant to join their operations in Leeds. The Role The role of Rehabilitation Assistant / Personal Programme Assistant (PPA) will carry out rehabilitation plans designed by a reach Programme Manager, with a head injured client, in the client's own home assessing their daily environment, social environment and possibly in their work environment. Duties and Responsibilities Head injured clients have a high probability of successful rehabilitation. The overall aim of rehabilitation is to restore the client the best possible quality of life in all the areas covered by the rehabilitation plan. Rehabilitation programmes are delivered by the PPA and supervised by the PM. The PPA will work with the client for an average of 10 hours per week to carry out the rehabilitation plan; this will typically be carried out over 2-3-4 days per week or as appropriate to the client. The programmes within the plan may range widely: from training in memory strategies to preparation for return to work, but will be based on best current practice in occupational therapy and clinical psychology. The PPA will take part in a planned induction programme for each client with future updates. Supervision will take place initially on a weekly basis and then on a two weekly basis by the Programme Manager at a location which will be mutually convenient. The PPA will keep daily records of work and will deliver these to the Programme Manager. It may be necessary to work with other professionals, i.e. physiotherapists, and speech and language therapists, to help the client maintain continuity in their rehabilitation. The PPA will comply with the precise specifications set out in each programme. The rehabilitation may take place in a variety of settings all of which will be relevant to the client’s lifestyle, i.e. shopping centre, sports facilities, hobbies, education, work etc. The PPA will maintain absolute confidentiality concerning the content of the rehabilitation programmes.
