Brain Injury Support Worker
A female support worker is needed due to some personal assistance being needed in public places i.e changing rooms therefore this post is exempt under The Sex Discrimination Act 1975 S7 (2)(ba) and S7 (2)(b). T is a pleasant, quiet and sensitive 14 year old. She has a range of physical and cognitive difficulties as a result of a road traffic accident in 2009. She has rehabilitation input from a full team of multi-disciplinary professionals and we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic support worker to help her to achieve her goals. T lives with her family and younger siblings, so you will need to be sensitive to the needs of the family. You will mainly work on a 1 to 1 with T, closely monitored by members of a multi-disciplinary therapy team and her brain injury case manager. T will need sensitive support and encouragement as she accesses rehabilitation therapy with a view to promote independence. Successful candidates will be able to motivate and encourage her. They will also be able to work well as part of an integrated team of family and professionals, having respect for T’s family life within the home. T is interested in having support to assist her with: Support with homework Going to the gym, swimming and attending singing lessons Attending appointments Developing and maintaining friendships within her peer group You will need a full clean driving licence and access to your own vehicle in order to be able to take T out and about. T would like a support worker with a young and fun loving outlook. Full training and support is given. You will undertake a range of statutory training activities as well as additional client- and therapy-specific training. 1 position is available covering 12 hours per week. Attendance at training activities and team meetings is mandatory and is paid at the usual hourly rate. You will be working on self-rostering basis rota, mainly working with T after school and occasionally at weekends. Subject to negotiation, you will occasionally be required to attend meetings during school hours. Rate of pay is £11.00 per hour.
