PSHE Coordinator – Secondary – Tower Hamlets
Start Date- January 2019
Location- Tower Hamlets, East London
Salary- MPS/UPS plus TLR2a £2,721
Contract Type- Permanent/ Long Term for the right candidate
GSL Education are seeking to appoint an exceptional PSHE coordinator who will teach and coordinate PSHE including supporting a small team of non-specialists.
The successful candidate will be an outstanding practitioner and fully committed to high standards and expectations. The school welcomes colleagues with a creative approach who are keen to contribute to exciting curriculum developments.
The good school is a Secondary School situated in the heart of Tower Hamlets, East London. Our partner school offers a personalized curriculum tailored to individual needs, modified as appropriate, from the National Curriculum. The postholder will be required to demonstrate a continual positive commitment to the school’s policies including those relating to safeguarding children, health & safety, and equal opportunities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. To map the provision of PSHE across the school, ensuring thorough coverage in all areas
2. To co-ordinate whole school Drop Days for Upper and Lower School (with the support of a consultant initially)
3. To lead a team of staff delivering PSHE in the taught curriculum to the Lower School
4. Overview of planning and curriculum for KS3 PSHE
5. Overview of the planning for KS4 tutor time curriculum
6. Liaise with Head of Sixth Form to ensure an overview of the tutor time curriculum and Drop Day planning for KS5
7. To liaise with the relevant Year Learning Managers to develop an appropriate and challenging PSHE programme for each year group
8. To prepare the programme for each year group and ensure that teaching resources are available
9. To liaise with the Careers Co-ordinator to link Careers units into the programme
10. To liaise with the Financial Literacy co-ordinator to ensure this work in mapped fully within the PSHE curriculum
11. To promote the delivery of PSHE across the lower school by ensuring that it is celebrated and publicized
12. Review of key policies relating to PSHE, including the Sex and Relationships Policy

PSHE Coordinator Specification:
1. Have a DBS registered with the online update service or be willing to process one
2. Provide two professional child related references good - outstanding
3. Teaching qualifications - PGCE, Diploma in teaching, Bachelors of Education, QTS.
4. Have the right to work in the UK
5. Be committed to best practice
6. Successful teaching of PSHE at Key Stages 3 -4
7. Using a range of strategies within the classroom to promote learning
