The Kennel Club’s purpose is to promote, in every way, the health and wellbeing of dogs. We are an international organisation committed to promoting and protecting dogs’ varied roles in society and defending the interests of their owners.

An opportunity has arisen for a PR Officer to join our exciting and dynamic Marketing and Communications department. The function has a wide-ranging remit and develops and supports campaigns for the good of both dogs and their owners. This role is based in Central London.

Reporting to the Head of PR and communications, you will co-ordinate public relations and promotional activity supporting Kennel Club services in a consistent manner which is sympathetic to the Club’s Mission Statement.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years’ public relations experience, including working in a busy and proactive press office. You will have the opportunity to create and implement media campaigns, using a wide range of PR techniques and channels in order to achieve effective brand coverage. You will be required to lead on brands, manage the PR planning process and have a good working knowledge of national, local, regional and social media channels. Media nous and a good knowledge of press office and newsroom routines are essential.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to work on your own initiative and willingness to put forward ideas is essential, as is the need to have a flexible approach to work.

Ideally you will have a working knowledge of Gorkana, plus a qualification in communications/media studies/journalism.

An interest in dogs is essential.
