Hays Construction & Property are excited to be working in partnership with Corby Borough Council who are looking to recruit a Planning Officer (Development Control) to join their team. Corby Borough Council is a success story and one of the fastest growing places in the UK, their Corporate Vision is to double their population to around 100,000 by 2030 and they are the Academy of Urbanism's 2018 Great British Town. Corby is situated in the heart of England with excellent road links via the A14 to the M1, M6 and A1 and a direct passenger rail service to London.

This is an exciting time for a Planning Officer to be a part of the future of Corby as they grow the Borough. Corby is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Planning Officer to complement their Development Management Team. As a Planning Officer in the Regeneration and Growth Service you will be responsible to the Principal Planner (Development Control) for exercising professional development control and other skills as part of the modernising of planning services focused on delivery for the customer.

As the Planning Officer you will process applications for planning permission focusing on minor to mid-range applications which will include household applications up to 5-6 unit schemes, Conservation Area Consent, Listed Building Consent and others. You will make recommendations and be involved at decision stages, in accordance with National and Council approved planning policies. As a member of the Development Control team, the Planning Officer will provide planning advice, negotiate improvements and propose solutions to physical development proposals.

You will have a Planning or equivalent qualification with at least a few years’ experience. The ideal candidate should be eligible for membership of the RTPI or equivalent body . You must be a motivated individual able to demonstrate good experience and knowledge working across a range of development with experience of dealing with householder and small major applications. You will also be expected to be a member of their multi team approach for large residential and large commercial applications. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate attention to detail, excellent observational and communication skills and hold a full UK driving licence.
