*Fixed term /secondment opportunity -end date 10th December 2019 *

This post offers an opportunity to join the Medicine and Emergency Services Division Senior Leadership Team on a 1 year fixed term basis as a Senior Operational Manager for Medicine. The Medicine and Emergency Services division includes 15 specialties, consisting of multiple subspecialties, and functioning across 26 ward, inpatient and outpatient areas. The division is made up of three sub divisions; Emergency and OPM, Medicine One, and Medicine Two.

Medicine Two is made up of Gastroenterology (including Endoscopy and Hepatology), Clinical Haematology, Clinical Oncology, Palliative Care, Respiratory Medicine (including Respiratory Physiology and Adult Cystic Fibrosis) and Radiotherapy Physics. It is the role of the Senior Operational Manager to support the Operational Managers to ensure these areas are effectively managed, well led and that high quality services are consistently provided. The post holder will lead the sub-division in supporting business change initiatives, business planning, transformation and sustainable financial and operational improvement programmes.

As post holder you will work closely alongside the other Senior Triumvirate Members for the sub-division, the lead matron and Chief of Service, to ensure that the sub-division is delivering against operational performance targets, finances, and improving services towards best practice standards within the available income and resource. The candidate will work with the other sub-divisions and report directly to the Divisional Director of Operations. They will represent the sub-division as a member of the Divisional Board.

The vacancy comes at an exciting time for the sub-division. The post holder will join the leadership team in working towards the move of Endoscopy to the state of the art Quadram Institute in the near future. Oncology and Haematology continue to develop their services as lead providers within the region. The purpose built Respiratory Investigation Unit has recently been completed, and ensuring this is fully optimised is an exciting challenge for the post holder.

This is a very varied and dynamic role with a broad portfolio that is constrained by frequent tight deadlines and competing priorities. As such, the post holder needs to be highly resilient, well organised, an experienced leader and able to produce high quality written reports and data analysis in short timeframes.
