We are situated at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, benefiting from state of the art hospital facilities and beautiful natural surroundings.

The Emergency Assessment Unit Surgical comprises of 21 inpatient beds, emergency assessment rooms and a Surgical Ambulatory Emergency Care that receives patients directly from GP’s and Emergency Department. We endeavor ensure all emergency admission patients receive seamless, high quality care.

This role offers an exciting and challenging opportunity to work alongside a dedicated and highly skilled team as we look forward to the future development of Surgical Emergency Care Services at the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital. We require an enthusiastic clinical educator to be a part of this exciting development. We believe that all of our staff should be trained to ensure that our patients receive safe and evidence based care. We are looking for a motivated, confident person to lead the training requirement of our unit, as we aim to ensure our patients receive optimal care at the point of admission.

As post holder you will :

- provide support in developing and overseeing a surgical assessment educational programme for a range of staff

- develop processes to support staff practice, to ensure staff are competent in all aspects of surgical assessment and implement recording systems to indicate progress

- support the Ward Manager to ensure compliance with Trust mandatory training requirements for all grades of nursing staff

- seek opportunities to develop clinical practice and support the writing of clinical guidelines to support advanced nursing practices within the Emergency Assessment Unit Surgical

- ensure a high standard of evidence based nursing practice by undertaking clinical audit and research activities

- have an awareness of activity throughout the emergency assessment unit and participate in clinical duties as required

- promote the role of educator as being one of high value and status and contribute to the trust being seen as a learning organisation

Hours of work : Full time -37.5 hours per week, varied shift pattern that may include nights and weekends
