We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to join a rotation into the multi-professional acute medical team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Stroke team at University Hospital Lewisham & Community Therapy Service in the Lewisham Adult Therapy Team. You will be working with adults with swallowing and communication disorders in 3 different settings allowing you to develop a wide range of experience and skills. Each rotation period will last for 9 months and your salary will be aligned to the local high cost allowance allocated to that hospital/service.
Ideally you will have experience in working with adults with acquired neurological disorders and a keen interest to develop specialist skills in dysphagia. You will be supported to complete a structured dysphagia competency programme and will have the opportunity to develop further competencies in interpreting videofluoroscopy examinations. There will be the chance to contribute towards the supervision of assistants and students and participate in some of the training packages we offer to the wider hospital team.
Within our supportive and friendly teams, you will receive regular clinical supervision by Specialist and Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapists in the areas into which you rotate. You will attend regular team meetings and contribute to well-established in-house CPD programmes. In addition to this there will be opportunities for cross site working and peer supervision.
Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Trust offers first-rate clinical facilities and excellent training. Accommodation and a crèche are also available. All 3 services can be accessed from central London by overland rail and bus.
