1 year Maternity Leave cover starting end of February / early March 2019.

A vacancy has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, assertive and committed Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join the Inpatient Pain Service to cover for maternity leave here at St George’s Hospital, South West London. We are a large teaching hospital as well as a regional trauma centre and a tertiary referral centre for a broad range of surgical specialties. Our mission is ‘to provide a service devoted to the highest level of individualised, holistic care and to create awareness among staff of the services and education we provide.’ Many patients with pain have highly complex needs due to multiple pathologies and psycho/social issues, which can be challenging and require expert input from our specialist team.

We are a resource for advice, education and support for all clinical staff, aiming to provide excellent evidence based care.

The successful candidate will be an advanced practitioner either through formal qualification and/or extensive clinical experience pertinent to the field of pain management. Have the ability to organise their time efficiently and be able to work independently as well as part of a team, to provide timely and appropriate pain management. Demonstrate excellent communication skills with patients and members of the MDT, have experience in preparing teaching, presenting and audit.

If you are interested in the challenges this opportunity offers or would like further information then please contact Kim Ferns (Lead Pain CNS) email: kim.ferns@stgeorges.nhs.uk or 0208 725 2080

We expect all our staff to share the values that are important to the trust – being excellent, kind, responsible and respectful – and behave in a way that reflects these. More information on the vision and values of St. George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is attached below.
