Specialist Biomedical Scientist - Haematology/Blood Transfusion Band 6
Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust comprises of Queen Elizabeth Woolwich (QEW) and University Hospital Lewisham (UHL).
There is at present a position to join the Haematology/Blood Transfusion team.
Applications are invited for enthusiastic Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered, Band 6 Biomedical Scientist, with a minimum of two years post registration experience in Haematology and Blood Transfusion.
The Trust Pathology directorate has established a Hub and Spoke model of operation, with the Spoke at Lewisham having a new laboratory space to house new equipment. The Hub at Queen Elizabeth Woolwich has undergone significant equipment refresh to support the centralisation of work.
At present the Haematology and Transfusion instrumentation includes Sysmex XN9000 at QEW with a Track to incorporate the previously labour intensive tasks and Sysmex XN2000 at UHL. For Coagulation ACL TOP 750’s are in use at QEW, whilst UHL operates with Top 350’s and 550’s.
For Blood grouping we are using Grifols analysers across both sites.
Clinisys Winpath LIMS operates across both Trust sites.
Previous experience with the laboratory automation and computer system would be advantageous.
There is a full AFC 24hr shift system in operation at QEW and UHL. Candidates would be expected to take a full part in the out of hours services and will be expected to work across both the QEW and UHL sites as required.
The successful candidate will be encouraged and supported to further their academic career. The post holder will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to CPD.
