We have a four seated assessment unit, taking direct GP referrals and patients from the front door, bypassing A&E assessment processes. The role of the unit is to assess, treat and discharge on same-day or admit to an appropriate ward. The ward itself consists of a 22 bedded area which is set up for rapid assessment and treatment of the over 75s, with close working partnerships of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and social work team 7 days a week.

All new staff joining Princess Alexandra Hospital will be subject to a probation period of 6 months.
