Senior Pharmacy Technician - Band 5
Chemotherapy Production & Dispensary Services
37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday + Weekend & BH Rota
Salary: £23,023 - £30,615

A good opportunity has arisen for a Senior Pharmacy Technician to join the Chemotherapy Services production team to work in the dedicated Beacon Cancer Care Centre where the Pharmacy Production Unit is based.

Services are provided to patients in the Day Unit and associated Haematology & Oncology wards.

We are looking for a skilled team member who has good experience in aseptic production and holds an In-process & Pre-process checking qualification and is also a qualified Final Product Approval Technician (or will work to achieve this within year 1 of appointment to post)

The work involves preparation of chemotherapy treatments including clinical trials, carrying out checks on final drug volumes, preparation tray set up and production worksheets.

The post holder will work primarily in the Chemotherapy Production Unit but supports Dispensary services on a sessional basis: There will be an opportunity to work towards an ACT qualification.

The applicant must be able to organize and prioritize workload efficiently and effectively, working accurately in a timely manner in the face of frequent interruptions.

The post holder will be directly involved in the supervision development & training of Technicians, Pre-registration Technicians, Pharmacy Assistants and Pre-registration Pharmacists.

The applicant must have a BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or equiv qualification and must be currently registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. The applicant must hold a nationally accredited In-process & Pre-process checking qualification along with a Final Product approval qualification. Two 2 years qualified experience working in aseptic production is essential.
