Environment & Energy Associate
We are looking for an Associate to join our highly regarded Environment and Energy team.
The team draws its client base from leading names across the firm's core sectors. These include clients working in power utilities, water, renewable energy, commercial real estate development, waste management, retail, technology and financial services.
The team advises on the regulatory, commercial and transactional aspects of environment and energy law.
The environment work focuses on the environmental aspects of large-scale real estate transactions, waste and bioenergy projects and corporate advisory on environmental regulation. The real estate work helps clients deal with complex environmental liabilities on the sale and purchase of land. The corporate advisory work supports national and international clients on a wide range of environmental regulation, including waste, chemicals, energy efficiency, climate change, environmental consents and product regulation.
The energy work focuses on renewable energy projects, power management, smart energy, energy storage and the generation, distribution and supply of electricity. The team works on challenging and innovative transactions and technologies and is a key part of the firm's Energy and Utilities sector, which spans projects in the UK and across the firm's international network.
Technical skills and experience
The successful candidate will work across both environment and energy, however with a focus on the environment work described above.
You will have strong regulatory, commercial and transactional skills and experience for your level of qualification with a familiarity of working with lawyers across different disciplines. The Environment and Energy team works closely with colleagues in Real Estate, Corporate, Project Finance/Banking, Planning, Health & Safety, Construction and Regulatory Disputes.
As a guide, due to the nature of the work and the structure of the team, we are looking to appoint an Associate in this area, although we will consider candidates with more or less experience.
Your career development
Like all our lawyers, you will benefit from our multi-award winning career development programme. At each stage of your career this provides you with:
- clear expectations of your role and what it takes to progress;
- high quality clients and work, with early responsibility and client exposure;
- thorough assessment and individual feedback from a range of experienced colleagues;
- robust technical training with early skills based development, increasingly tailored to you; and
- reward for your contribution, progression and potential, rather than PQE or tenure.
Salary and benefits
We offer competitive salaries and generous benefits.
