Job Purpose
The main purpose of this role is to support the development of our strategy to make the right investment decisions for a large asset base. You will gather and present information to influence multi million pound investment decisions, delivering regulatory reporting and track investment delivery.
This role is responsible for directing investment decisions on our asset base and the performance of those assets. This will include working across our whole business, keeping our customers safe and warm and maximising our performance within our regulatory framework.
Key Accountabilities
Responsible for building and maintaining ‘Risk Monetisation and Investment Models’ to identify the most effective combination of interventions to meet the businesses desired outcomes
Support the development of optimised investment strategies and balanced plans that are achievable, realistic and risk evaluated
To clearly document our approach to modelling for your areas of responsibility. This includes Standard Operation Procedures, Change Logs and Internal Quality Documents
Day-to-day interaction with external model provider to support the development of asset models for asset performance, deterioration and intervention optimisation and subsequent implementation plans
Work with stakeholders to identify and develop robust data inputs, including asset and cost information to identify the best strategies and solutions to maximise return on investment (risk reduction per £)
Deliver required table and support narrative development for annual Ofgem Regulatory Reporting Pack (RRP) complying with internal assurance processes (Data Assurance Guidance)
Provide analysis to support the asset investment strategy to meet Gas Distribution’s commitment to environmental safety and sustainability, achieving regulatory and government targets
Play an active part in industry working groups to support development of national modelling frameworks. This includes providing updates and progress reports to promote consistency between gas distribution networks
Support the ongoing accreditation of ISO55001 and asset management good practice
Knowledge and Qualifications Required
Essential:
* Data and information management skills, with keen attention to detail
* Statististics background and ability to use mathematical applications such as minitab and R
* Good communicator
* Ability to work to deadlines
* Ability to link corporate strategy into an asset risk modelling approach
* Understanding and knowledge of a regulatory frameworks for an asset rich organisation, such as RIIO
* Experience of preparing / presenting data to support business cases
* Ability to analyse large data sets
* Experience of working within a team of technical and business analysts and engineers
* Basic understanding of operational principles of gas distribution assets
* Good understanding of Asset Management principles and interdependencies between asset management roles, policies and systems
* Basic understanding and awareness of statistics and economics
Desirable:
* A member of a relevant chartered engineering or asset management institution.
* An understanding of modelling techniques and best practices
* Advanced quantitative analytical skills
* Awareness of the factors and indicators that are used to determine suitable investment decisions
* Experience of continuous improvement processes
Experience Required:
* Working with large data repositories and systems to produce information to influence business decisions
* Ability to produce and deliver outputs on complex issues in a clear and concise manner for internal and external audiences
* Experience of delivering accurately to immovable milestone dates
