This is an exciting time for our staff, following a recent review of healthcare services in Dorset which will see major changes to the way healthcare is provided. As one of the two acute NHS providers in the east of the county, our services will be closely linked to those provided at the Royal Bournemouth & Christchurch Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. We’re working in close collaboration to deliver excellent emergency and planned care over the two sites, for the people of east Dorset.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a registered nurse with considerable post registration experience in either cancer services or research to join our existing cancer research team situated in Poole Hospital NHS Trust. This substantive post will support recruitment to oncology research studies as an integral part of the Research and Innovation department.
The oncology research team recruits to a number of National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and commercial clinical trials for solid tumours and haematology, in line with national policies and targets.
We are an innovative department looking at new ways of supporting patients who participate in clinical trials.
This job will involve:
• Provision of a high quality specialist research nursing service to outpatients/inpatients working as part of the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Supporting researchers locally in screening and recruitment of patients and the management of research trials (including drug trials and trials of clinical devices).
• Working with the Research and Innovation Department (R&I) to ensure compliance with local and international regulatory requirements.
• Further development of clinical research interests including knowledge and skills of clinical research and project management.
• Provision of the optimum service and quality of care for each patient and family, maintaining confidentiality and trust
• Working as part of the wider research community within the Wessex Cancer Research Network
To succeed in this role you will possess:
Qualification as a Registered Nurse with evidence of further study
Excellent IT skills, including the use of Microsoft Office and databases
Established communication and organisational skills

We are based at Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and work with other Acute Trusts within Dorset including Bournemouth and Dorchester. The job is part of the Research and Innovation Department within the Oncology Research Team, Dorset Cancer Centre and you will be working throughout the hospital, wherever required. You will also be expected to attend meetings away from the hospital.
