We are recruiting an experienced Payroll Manager to join well-established organisation within the public sector based in Birmingham.

As a Payroll Manager, you will lead the payroll team driving productivity and building on the experience of each team member helping them to develop both personally and professionally to enhance organisational delivery. You will also be responsible for the payroll function to ensure it carried out in a timely, accurate manner for the organisation.

As a Payroll Manager your main responsibilities will be:

* Ensure employees are paid correctly and on time
* Manage the relationship with Payroll provider and Pension administrators
* Lead and develop the payroll team
* Demonstrate excellent customer service and delivery
* Keep up to date with payroll best practice and legislations and implement changes where required
* Provide tailored advice and training to the team, unions and other colleagues
* Manage payroll related contracts including tendering
* Support organisational projects and changes that impact on pay and reward
* Support teams with payroll reporting

Experience and skills required:

* Experience of leading all facets of payroll including PAYE and pensions
* Good working knowledge of current developing payroll legislation
* Vast experience managing a payroll function, desirable if managed within a public sector
* Experience of liaising with external agencies including HMRC and DWP
* Experience of managing and training payroll team members
* Excellent customer interaction
* Team player
* Ability to work under pressure

£30 - £34k
