Technical Support Engineer Location: Edinburgh Duration: Full time/permanent Salary: up to £40,000 An exciting opportunity has arisen within global award winning Software Company for a Technical Support Engineer based in Edinburgh. This role will require someone who has a strong passion for IT. The role: Work as part of a team providing 3rd line support for the development environment. You will also be responsible to work with the business, to assess requirements for platform upgrades/deployments and deliver support to these environments. Responsibilities: * Provide support for the Systems infrastructure; Core Network, Virtualise platforms and SAN * Be the technical lead in core infrastructure projects * Actively self-improve and develop through participation in internal training programmes, self-study training, and online-training courses * Find root cause of bugs and identify solutions * Provide diagnostic and repair services on a variety of database and application systems Key Skills: * Experience with Hyper-V or VMWare including knowledge of SAN technology * Expert networking knowledge with an understanding of firewalls and VPNs * Experience of supporting an Exchange on-line or MS Exchange messaging service * Experience of supporting and administering Active Directory including Federation of Services and O365 admin. Desirable Skills: * MCP, MCITP certifications * ITIL or ISO20000 working knowledge * Exposure to Linux and a desire to learn more * Administration, configuration, deployment and sizing of one or more J2EE systems such as JBoss/Wildfly, WebSphere or WebLogic * Basic Oracle or SQL Server administration skills Recruitment Zone acting as an employment agency in regard to this advert.
