A global services provider is currently looking for a Server Engineer on a permanent basis to be based in their office at Brentford.

The Server Engineer partners with the In-house Infrastructure Team, architecture, Infrastructure and Database Designers to administer, maintain, and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the availability, performance, security and integrity of my clients IT Infrastructure assets. The purpose of the job is to:

* Analyse, design, and construct IT Infrastructure environments.
* Ensure the smooth operation of the IT Infrastructure
* Address changing business requirements and develop better solutions to solve indicated problems.
* Document the completed elements of Server environments and configurations
* Work with the Technology team to ensure expedient resolution of all IT support issues.

Key Activities and Responsibilities:

* Ensure all Servers are backed up in a way that meets the business’s Recovery Point Objectives (RPO)
* Test backups to ensure we can meet the business's Recovery Time Objectives (RTO)
* Troubleshoot and carry out root cause analysis of Server service outages as they occur, including after-hours and weekends
* Configure Server monitoring utilities to minimise false alarms
* When performance issues arise, determine the most effective way to increase performance, including hardware purchases, server configuration changes, consolidation etc.
* Ad-Hoc out of hours support when required.
* Provide assistance to other project teams when required
* Integral part of the whole Technology team to ensure all service tickets and help desk issues are answered and resolved expediently.


* 5+ years of relevant experience.
* Ideally with MCSE 2012 Server Infrastructure certification but must have extensive demonstrable daily working knowledge of current releases of MS Windows Server Software and Technology platform (on-premise).
* Demonstrated skills in Hyper-V, EMC SAN Storage, UCS Blade Centres and Microsoft Azure Cloud Services (including Office 365)
* Knowledge of supporting thin clients using Microsoft RDP
* Expert in backup solutions such as Veeam & Symantec
* Ability to manage/plan multiple tasks on an extended basis and within deliverable time frames.
* Experience of working in a small to medium team environment desirable.
* Be self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously while also being a team player.
* Enthusiasm, together with excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.
