Blueprint Recruitment Solutions have a new opportunity for a Senior Hydrologist / Hydraulic Modeller to join a leading engineering firm on a permanent basis in Leeds. Our client provides services across a range of sectors including environment, energy and water. They are looking for a candidate to undertake engineering and design studies in areas of flood risk, hydrology, water resources, water quality and environmental impact assessment.

The selected candidate will have the following key roles and responsibilities:

* Support the delivery of a wide variety of projects for several key clients covering a range of activities from project feasibility to detailed design and construction support.
* Undertake project delivery tasks which includes calculations, drawings, sketches and reports as well as site investigations.
* Deliver projects to the agreed time, cost and quality requirements.
* Ensure all work is completed in full compliance with the Company’s Integrated Management Systems (IMS) and comply with health and safety policies.
* Provide technical guidance, support and training to colleagues and assist in mentoring and development of others.
* Assist with the submission of tenders, the cultivation of new clients and develop the services with existing clients.
* Recommend and implement improvements to technical policy, processes and design solutions where applicable.

Essential Skills and Experience:

* First degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or equivalent subject with significant hydrology or hydraulics content.
* MSC or PHD in either hydrology, hydraulic, water resources or other applied environmental science subject.
* Knowledge of UK and European legislation governing the technical discipline.
* Good technical knowledge of hydrology and open channel hydraulics.
* Experience of GIS (ArcGIS) and hydraulic/ hydrology modelling software including FEH, WINFAP, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, Infoworks ICM, HYSIM and Microdrainage.
* Experience in some of all of the following: Flood estimation methods, environmental impact assessments, drainage and SUDs design, river engineering and water resource assessment.
* Ability to communicate in a fluent and positive manner and produce reports in plain English.
* Good problem solving skills with ability to find practical solutions.
* Effective negotiating and persuasion skills, with ability to manage challenging situations.
