Mechanical Engineer (Gas Plant)
Storengy UK Limited, is a subsidiary of ENGIE (formerly GDF SUEZ), whose core activity is the development and running of a fast-cycle underground gas storage facility in Cheshire. The Stublach site has been operational since 2014 and has so far commissioned 10 Caverns, upon completion in 2020 we will have a total of 20 caverns offering flexible storage to our customers of 400 million cubic metres of high-pressure natural gas.

Location: Stublach site, Northwich, Cheshire (Commutable from Warrington, Runcorn, Macclesfield, Crewe, Chester, Ellesmere Port and surrounding areas)

About the role:
An opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Technician to work in the Gas Plant Technical Team based at our Stublach site. The Mechanical Technician will report directly to the Technical Team Leader and will and contribute to the safe operation of the gas handling and storage assets to ensure the protection of personnel and the environment.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out maintenance activities combine with and contribute to the specialist maintenance contract staff in performing maintenance that contributes to the efficient operation of gas assets
- Prepare mechanical isolations / purging operations for plant and equipment maintenance
- Preparation and associated isolation documentation
- Operate as a member of the Emergency Response Team in the event of an incident on the Stublach site
- Perform routine testing of operational equipment across the site, ensuring traceability by recording the test results in the Computer based Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Carry out inspection of mechanical equipment, providing reports and recommendations
- Secure the work area by identifying and measuring the risks in work activities and arrange the appropriate safeguards and isolations
- Write, review and amend operational instructions / procedure / plans based upon experience and implement them to isolate, maintain and reinstatement systems back to operational service
- Investigate operational issues / system defects to determine the source of the failure and the most appropriate corrective action in order to safely return an item back to operational service
- Liaise with the maintenance scheduling team to coordinate and monitor maintenance activities in the most cost and time effective manner
- Liaise with and oversee maintenance contractors on site to monitor their activities, ensuring safety, compliance and quality of work is maintained at all times
Essential Skills / Experience:
- Recognised Time-Served Apprenticeship (Mechanical)
- Vocational or technical diploma in a related course
- Job holder must have an overall awareness of work safety & general HSE knowledge
- Ideally a minimum 5 years experience in operations / maintenance of processing plants / equipment, preferably within the oil / gas / chemical / COMAH industry
- Mechanical technical knowledge is mandatory
- Ability to work on call
- Must reside no further than 30 minutes travel time from the Stublach Site
Desirable Skill / Experience:
- Qualifications in Process Technology Level 3 or equivalent
- Technical qualification in Health & Safety (e.g. IOSH)
- Ability to use a CMMS system (Maximo)
