For the past 50 years Amnesty International (AI) has brought people together to fight for human rights. Joining us as a Payroll and Finance Accountant, you will provide financial control and insight in support of our existing human rights activity and an ambitious international growth project.

About the role

Using your payroll and accounting knowledge, you will be responsible for maintaining the payroll function of the IS including processing of taxes, pension contributions and posting payroll journals. A large part of this role will be liaising between the HR department, payroll providers, the wider finance team and overseas offices to ensure that payroll is processed efficiently and consistently across the organisation. You will also have an important role in performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations and month end close procedures as well as taking part in ad hoc project work to maintain and improve financial controls relating to payroll, and to provide high quality information to management.

Overall, you will achieve success in this role through being extremely organised; a willingness to challenge accepted practice and make continual improvements to our systems; and the ability to build productive relationships with colleagues and our service providers.

As a member of the Finance Team at the International’s Secretariat we will support you to maximise your motivation at work and develop you to be a leader of tomorrow in accordance with our established Talent Strategy.

About you

In order to be successful in this role you will need to have a strong payroll background and an exceptional attention to detail as well as previous experience of financial accounting. As the role involves some degree of ad hoc project work, you will be able to demonstrate that you can manage your own workload, prioritise effectively, and take accountability for your work. A solid experience of Excel is also essential in order to maintain the payroll records. Whether you are part or fully qualified, you will be ready to take full advantage of the range of opportunities available.
