The post holder will work 30 hours per week (but may be required to work more hours occasionally)
Salary: £20,800 pro rata
At 30 hours salary is £15,600

The Pill Millennium Centre is a community, sports, recreation and meeting Centre based in Pillgwenlly, near to Newport city centre. Our facilities include:

Role Purpose – The purpose of the Duty Manager is to provide support to the Centre Manager during evenings and weekends, looking after the team and ensuring the efficient operation of the Centre. You will manage the day to day operation of the Centre with the aim of ensuring that all visitors experience a welcoming and safe environment that is fit for purpose, resulting in maximum enjoyment and repeat usage.
We’re looking for an experienced Duty Manager who is passionate about the leisure and recreation industry and the provision of quality service. If you’re looking for a desk job this isn’t for you – there’s no such thing as a typical day as a Duty Manager. That’s what makes the role so special. Here, you could be doing anything from setting up rooms, ordering supplies, arranging for tradesmen to carry out repairs, and making sure everything is perfect for our customers. During your shift you will need to ensure that everything is all running as it should be – handling customer enquiries, managing the team, and ensuring the successful operation of all of the facilities.

Key Responsibilities
* Manage and supervise colleagues during your shift.
* Be a role model and lead the team to work together to provide an exceptional customer experience.
* Manage the staff and volunteer recruitment, induction and training processes.
* Operate the building and facilities in accordance with operating procedures, emergency action plans, and the health and safety policy in order to provide a safe environment for all.
* Manage reception and ensure appropriate equipment is set out and rooms prepared for users in a timely manner and cleared away after use.
* Act as key holder and open and close the facility ensuring building/equipment checks are carried out as stipulated in company procedures.
* Act as emergency key holder when the centre is closed.
* Assist the Centre Manager with administration when required.
* Support the Centre Manager to ensure a safe, legal and high-performing operation, whilst taking overall responsibility in the absence of the Centre Manager.
Key Experience, Knowledge and Skills
* Proven team leader or supervisor experience within a community, leisure or recreation operation
* Committed to achieving and sustaining exceptional customer service standards
* Able to plan, organise and prioritise effectively and use initiative
* Able to communicate and influence at all levels
* Able to take appropriate action and make decisions
* Enthusiastic and flexible with a positive attitude
* Committed to develop own skills and apply learning to improve own performance
* Proven administrative skills with a good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
* Clean driving license
