2 experienced and flexible Learning Mentors are required to work at the Francis Barber Pupil Referral Unit.
Francis Barber PRU is a successful PRU in Wandsworth with a team of highly dedicated staff. We provide education for a wide variety of pupils whom have had difficulty maintaining a mainstream school provision. We have an excellent success rate of returning pupils to special and mainstream schools and post 16 college placements.
Due to additional funding we are delighted to be able to create 2 new posts for Learning Mentors to be responsible for delivering interventions around Literacy to pupls on a 1:1 basis and to small groups and to support youngsters on their reintegration to other settings working both on and off site with pupils The successful candidates will have excellent inter-personal skills and will be able to work flexibly in response to pupil and PRU needs. They will have the ability to diffuse challenging situations and help the pupils understand the barriers they have to learning, encouraging them to put strategies in place which enable them to become successful. There is some flexibility around the responsibilities within each of these roles.
Francis Barber PRU was inspected by OFSTED in Dec 2017 and received a GOOD report. There were many outstanding features including “The effectiveness of care, guidance and support”. The person appointed will have experience of inclusion work with challenging pupils. It is very important that when writing their supporting statement applicants clearly identify how they meet the person specification.
